| Hubei Yichang-Badong Highway Project
Project loan Description
The proposed project development objective (PDO) is to improve east-west passenger and freight flows in Hubei province by investing in the construction of an expressway, and strengthening highway and environmental management. The PDO is in line with the Bank’s FY06-10 Country Partnership Strategy (CPS), in particular in its recommendations to (i) reduce internal and external barriers to trade and investment, (ii) reduce poverty, inequality and social exclusion through expanding affordable access to basic social and infrastructure services, and (iii) manage resource scarcity and environmental challenges. The objectives of the Project are to improve the highway network infrastructure to sustain socio-economic development in Hubei province, especially in western lesser developed areas, contribute to the unlocking of China western lagging provinces and improve the management of roads and traffic safety in Hubei.
Project Preparation Progress
The project passed on the World Bank’s identification in November 2006. It is expected that the project preparation mission will come to Hubei and undertake the project preparation in August 2007. |
